Obi smartphones are now called Obi Worldphones, they have launched World phone SF1 and SJ1.5 smartphones today. The SF1 smartphone sports 5-inches FHD(1920*1080) JDI In-Cell IPS floating glass display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and oleophobic coating to prevent from fingerprints. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615Soc clocked at Arms Cortex A53, 4×1.5GHz + 4×1.0GHz Octa-Core processor with Adreno 405GPU coupled with 2GB of Ram and 16GB internal storage, another variant with 3GB of Ram and 32GB internal storage and an SD card slot for memory expansion up to 64GB. Runs on Android 5.0.2 lollipop out of the box with Obi’s own U.I overlayed.
There is a 13-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and f/2.0 aperture, Hybrid autofocus for fast focusing and a 5-megapixel front camera with LED flash. The device supports Dolby Audio and has a fiberglass body and metal accents at the top and bottom of the phone. Connectivity features include 4G LTE/3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (Dual-Band), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS. A 3,000mAh battery powers the device. SF1 is priced at US$199 (Rs. 13,100 approx.) for 2GB RAM version, and US$249 ( Rs. 16,430 approx.) for 3GB RAM Version.
The other smartphone that is launched alongside with SF1 is the SJ1.5 smartphone, The specifications fo the device are being listed out below. The Obi World phone SJ1.5 is priced at $129. These smartphones will be available starting in October. The smartphones will roll out in growing markets such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, South Africa, Pakistan, Turkey and India first and later to rest of the markets.
