Xiaomi has announced the Make in India campaign in association with Andhra Pradesh govt. Foxconn in association with Xiaomi will be establishing the smartphone manufacturing plant in Siri City, Andhra Pradesh. This is a good initiative from Xiaomi which helps in creating employment and also helps it cutting the cost per unit. As part of the campaign, the company has also announced the Redmi 2 prime smartphone in India After getting briefly listed on Amazon and Snapdeal. Xiaomi has recently started a manufacturing plant in Brazil after entering the Brazilian markets.
The device sports similar specifications, sports a 4.7-inches HD (1280*720p) display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410Soc clocked at 1.2GHz Quad-Core processor coupled with Adreno 306GPU coupled with 2GB of Ram and 16GB internal storage with an SD card slot for memory expansion. There is an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel selfie shooter. The device is priced at Rs.6,999 and will be made available across all the e-commerce sites in India and also will be available via mi.com/in starting today with no flash sales, but it is open for all.
