Indian smartphone makers Micromax, Celkon, Karbonn gearing up to invest 750 crores in setting up manufacturing plants in Andhra Pradesh according to the latest report from Economic Times. Further, the report says that these three companies have signed an Agreement with the state government These three companies will be setting up the plants near the Industrial park(coming up) near Renigunta, Tirupati. The government is also trying to bring in other handsets like Lava, Intex, etc The government is looking to create an ecosystem where Foxconn can produce over 7 million units per month by the end of 2016.
Micromax is also sketching the possibility to Manufacture Tablets, LED TV’s and monitor’s at the Tirupathi plant while Celkon will initially focus on SKD(semi-knocked-down) handsets. Xiaomi has already teamed up with Foxconn and is already is a process of producing the smartphones. Many other smartphone manufacturers like HTC, SONY, Microsoft, Asus, Gionee are also kick starting their plants.
