Gionee has already announced that it will be a part of the Make in India initiative a while ago while the company hasn’t officially mentioned any details during the announcement. Today the company has finally thrown some details in the form of F103 smartphone which is the first Make in India smartphone from Gionee that launched in India today. Gionee will partner with Foxconn to manufacture smartphones in Sri city, Andra Pradesh with over 6-7 million units production estimate. Honorable Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh State, Sri.Nara Chandrababu Naidu has launched the F103 smartphone.
The device sports 5-inches HD IPS display with Dragontrail glass protection and is powered by MediaTek MT6735 Soc clocked at 1.3GHz Quad-Core 64-bit processor with Mali T720GPU. There is 2GB Ram and 16GB internal storage. On the camera side, there is an 8-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Runs on Android 5.0 lollipop with Amigo U.I 3.0 out of the box. Connectivity features include 4G LTE/3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS. A 2.400mAh battery powers the device internally.The Gionee F103 comes in Pearl White, Dawn White and Black colors and is priced at Rs. 10,999 in India.
Andhra Pradesh is already being a host for Asus, Xiaomi, Micromax, Karbonn, Intex, Celkon manufacturing plants and with Gionee and OnePlus who are new to join the list the place has become the land for manufacturing Hardware hub. While some might argue that the phones are being assembled not manufactured, we think it as an establishment for a dynamic Ecosystem in Indian markets.
