Huawei has just announced the Kirin 950 Octa-Core Soc at an event in Beijing today. The all new Kirin 950Soc has two sets of Quad-Core CPU’s where the four ARM Cortex A72 Cores are clocked up to 2.53 GHz while the other four cores are clocked upto 1.8GHz and are based on ARM Cortex A53. The Kirin 950Soc is based on ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture so it will alter between Cortex A72 or A53 cores depending on the operations performed.
The Huawei Kirin 950Soc supports up to category 6 LTE networks and it is built on 16nm FinFET process. Huawei has opted the powerful Mali T880 Graphical Processing Unit or GPU for some all round performance. Cortex-A72 in the Kirin 950 offers an 11 percent performance increase and 20 percent less power consumption when compared with an A57. Huawei Kirin 950 comes Heuristic Scheduling Algorithms (HSA) which will predict the when to boost the performance for some serious intense applications thus eliminating the overheating issue. Kirin 950 chip comes with LPDDR4 support.The improved IntelliSense i5 sensor hub on this is said to be four times better than the 2-nd gen i3. The company is also making use of its own image signal processor.
The company has not disclosed any timeframe for the roll out and when will be commercially available but rest assured we will keep you updated so stay tuned.
