Huawei Mate 8 Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 6-inches 1080p Display Announced Globally

Huawei Mate 8 was announced in China back in November last year and during the event, the company has mentioned that it will announce the smartphone globally at CES 2016. Just as it mentioned the company has announced the Mate 8 smartphone for international markets. The device will be available in Champagne Gold, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray, and Mocha Brown colors for $643 for the 3GB Ram model while the 4GB Ram and 64GB model is priced at $750.


Huawei Mate 8 sports a 6-inches FHD(1080*1920) display with 2.5D curved glass. The display size remains the same 6-inches as seen on Mate 7. Powered by Huawei’s very own Kirin 950Soc that was announced earlier this month, Kirin 950Soc clocked at 2.3GHz Octa-Core processor with Mali-T880MP4 GPU. There is 3GB Ram and 32GB internal storage while the 4GB Ram variant has 64GB internal memory with a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion. Mate 8 is the first Huawei device apart from Nexus 6P to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei EMUI 4.0 overlayed on top.

The device features a 16-megapixel Sony IMX298 Rear camera sensor with PDAF, Optical image stabilization, F/2.0 aperture and an LED flash. The rear camera can record 4K videos which is a plus point for the device. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS/GNSS, NFC, DLNA and microUSB port. The device features a uni-body design completely made out of aluminum and there is also a Fingerprint sensor placed down below the rear camera sensor. On the battery department, the device packs a 4000mAh battery unit which according to the company will last 30% longer than Mate 7.
