Gionee has unveiled the S8 smartphone at the MWC 2016 event in Barcelona and also introduced the company’s brand new logo at the event. The device comes with pressure sensitive 3D touch that can sense three touch layers; press, tap and touch. The device sports a 5.5-inches 1080p AMOLED display, and it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with AMIGO U.I 3.2 on top. The all new Gionee S8 comes in Rose Gold, Grey and Gold colors for $494 and it will roll out from March end 2016. Let’s look at the specifications of the Gionee S8 in detail.

The Gionee S8 sports a 5.5-inches Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) HD AMOLED display with 3D touch and 2.5D curved glass that comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and powered by MediaTek Helio P10Soc clocked at 1.95GHz Octa-core processor with Mali T860MP2 GPU. It packs in 4GB of Ram and 64GB of internal storage with a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion up to 128GB. The Gionee S8 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo OS 3.2 overlaid; Gionee S8 is the first Gionee device to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box.

The Gionee S8 rocks a 16-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash, f/1.8 aperture, Phase detection autofocus, laser autofocus, 6P lens and on the front, we get an 8-megapixel shooter for selfies and video chats. The S8 come with a fingerprint sensor whose response time is just 0.1 sec, identification time of 0.38 seconds. and it has support for DTS audio for an immerse sound experience. A 3000mAh battery runs the show with fast charging support. the company says that the S8 has the world’s first invisible antenna design around the edges and Gionee has patents for this type of Unibody metal design. OS level customizations like floating window for video playback while browsing and stuff, Dual Whatsapp for each SIM cards and many more to come with AMIGO U.I 4.0 this June.
