LG has officially announced the most awaited flagship smartphone of the year. The G5 ahead of the MWC event just as announced, the device comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820Soc which is the Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset and surprising LG has decided to stick with 3GB of Ram wherein the competitors are racing ahead with 4GB.The LG G5 comes in Silver, Gold, Pink and Titan colors and is priced at $600-700 approx it is said to roll out starting from April 2016 across the USA and other markets gradually.
The LG G5 sports a 5.3-inches Quad-HD (2560×1440 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and a pixel density of over 544PPI. The device also features the Always On glance display that the company confirmed earlier last week which allows you to check time, notifications and battery status. It is Powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820Soc clocked at Quad-Core processor with Adreno 530 GPU. There is 4GB Ram and 32GB internal storage which can be further expanded via a MicroSD card slot up to 128GB. The device runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with LG’s U.X on top.
In the camera department, which is one of the LG’s strongest Zone, the device features a 16-megapixel rear camera with laser autofocus, dual-tone flash and it can record 4K videos, 135-degree angle while on the front, there is an 8-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calls. Connectivity features include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/AC, Bluetooth 4.1 LE (APT-x) , GPS and USB Type-C port which is kinda expected. A much-needed Fingerprint sensor can be found on the rear side of the device below the main camera module. A 2,800mAH user-removable battery on board with Qualcomm’s Quick charging 3.0. Weighs in at 159g the device boasts a metal build that looks premium and solid.
Modules: LG has designed the G5 in a semi-modular approach wherein you can add some modules manually to improve the device performance in camera and audio department. The company has unveiled the Cam Plus and Hi-fi audio modules. The Cam Plus module can be attached via the battery slot which promises to offer good grip, and it will provide features like autofocus, exposure adjustment, and further enhancements. The module comes with 1,200mAH battery capacity. Hi-Fi Plus is an audiophile that needs to be plugged into the G5 or can be used as a standalone module by connecting to smartphones and PC’s.
