LG Officially Confirms “Always On” Functionality For G5 Flagship

Update: As we all know LG is launching the G5 smartphone on February 21st ahead of the scheduled MWC conference, LG today has confirmed yet another detail of the G5. The G5 smartphone which is launching later this month will feature the “Always On” functionality which earlier Samsung requested for the trademark at USTPO. LG has posted a Gif that clearly demos the Always On feature, along with the event time and date, and it also shows notification icons similar to the LG V10’s ticker display. The LG G5 launch is set for February 21st (6:30 PM IST). Stay tuned.


Earlier: LG has officially announced that it will launch the G5 smartphone ahead of the MWC 2016 event later this month; the company has sent out the invites for the launch and it happens that Samsung has also locked February 21st for the launch of Next Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones at its Unpacked event. Many rumors and reports suggested that LG might refine the V10’s ticker display which should be interesting. Let’s look at the rumored specifications of the LG G5.

Rumored Specifications of the LG G5:

The device sports a 5.3-inches Quad-HD (2560×1440 pixels) display with a secondary ticker display and the display will come protected with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820Soc 64-bit Quad-Core processor with Adreno 530 GPU. LG has decided to stick with the 3GB Ram, which doesn’t seem that bad at all, 32GB internal storage which can be further expanded via a MicroSD card slot up to 128GB. The device will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with LG’s U.X on top.


Talking about the camera, which is that one feature we are excited about. The device features a 16MP rear camera with laser autofocus, dual-tone flash and it can record 4K videos while on the front, there is an 8-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calls. Connectivity features include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/AC, Bluetooth 4.1 LE (APT-x) , GPS. A much-needed Fingerprint sensor will be included this time around. A 2800mAH removable battery on board.
