Samsung has finally taken the wraps off the flagship smartphone-The Galaxy S7 at its Unpacked event as expect and we reported. The device features a quite compact body with just 5.1-inches Quad HD display, and the device will be available two different variants one with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 820 while the other variant with Exynos 8890Soc with 4GB Ram on both these models. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is priced at $$$ and will be available in Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, White Pearl and Silver Titanium colors and will roll out from March 11th, 2016. Let’s look at the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Specifications:
The Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inches Quad HD (2560*1440) SUPER AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and the display accounts to a pixel density of over 576 PPI. The Galaxy S7 will be available two different variants one with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820Soc with Adreno 530 GPU while the other with Exynos 8890Soc with Mali-T880 MP12 GPU These chipset variants will be available depending on the market. We have 4GB of LPDDR4 Ram and 32/64 internal storage options, and finally, we do get the MicroSD card slot for memory expansion up to 200GB. The Galaxy S7 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Samsung’s TouchWiz U.I on top with fewer bloatware apps this time around.
Talking about the camera, the device features a 12-megapixel autofocus rear camera is a Dual pixel technology with phase detection autofocus, OIS, dual-Tone LED flash, HDR, it can record 2K videos at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps and 720p at 120fps and on the front we have an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS with GLONASS, USB 2.0, NFC, MicroUSB port unlike other flagship phones that come with Type-C USB port. The device also features a fingerprint sensor on the front home button which should be fast enough just like the Galaxy S6. A 3,000mAH Non-removable Li-Ion battery is on board with Quick Charging 3.0 on board that will charge your smartphone 80% in under 30 minutes, it also supports Wireless charging (Qi/PMA). It also comes with IP68 water and dust resistant which is a good thing for a flagship to have.
Samsung Galaxy S7 edge specifications:
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820Soc with Quad-Core processor for the US market while the Asia and other markets will have the Octa-Core Exynos 8890Soc clocked 8 Octa processor. It sports a 5.5-inches Quad HD (2560×1440 pixels) 534 PPI Super AMOLED that comes with always-on feature and being the edge variant it comes with curved edge display. It packs 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, 32/64GB internal memory, expandable memory up to 200GB with microSD similar to the S7 smartphone.
Galaxy S7 edge runs on Android 6.0 with TouchWiz U.I overlaid on top. Samsung focussed on the camera department, it features a 12MP rear camera with LED Flash, f/1.7 aperture, optical image stabilization and on the front, there is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, f/1.7 aperture for better low-light selfies. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS with GLONASS, USB 2.0, NFC and it also comes with Fingerprint and hear-rate sensor on board. And similar to S7, S7 edge also comes with IP68 ratings water and dust resistance. A 3600mAh battery with Fast Charging support, it also supports wireless (WPC and PMA) charging.
