Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge Smartphones Launching In India on March 8th

Samsung has introduced the flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones at the Unpacked event ahead of the MWC 2016 event, today the company has sent out the official press invites for the Indian launch on 8th March 2016. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge sport similar design language of the last year’s S6 and S6 edge with minor changes in dimension for the battery purpose. Though internationally the S7 and S7 edge have the Snapdragon 820 variant, it is more likely that the Indians will only have the Exynos 8890 8-core Octa-Core chipset instead of the Snapdragon 820. The smartphones will go on for sale from March 11th globally including India. Let’s quickly recap the specifications of the both the flagships.


The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge sports a 5.5-inches Quad HD (2560×1440 pixels) 534 PPI Super AMOLED that comes with always-on feature and being the edge variant it comes with curved edge display and is powered by  Exynos 8890Soc Octa-Core 8 core processor. It packs 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, 32/64GB internal memory, expandable memory up to 200GB with microSD. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with TouchWiz U.I on top.

Talking about the camera, it features a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, f/1.7 aperture, optical image stabilization and on the front, there is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, f/1.7 aperture for better low-light selfies. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS with GLONASS, USB 2.0, NFC and it also comes with Fingerprint and heart rate sensor on board. And similar to S7, S7 Edge also comes with IP68 rating water and dust resistance. A 3600mAh battery with Fast Charging support, it also supports wireless (WPC and PMA) charging.


The Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inches Quad HD (2560*1440) SUPER AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, it is compact out of the two. It is powered by Exynos 8890Soc octa-Core processor with Mali-T880 MP12 GPU. We have 4GB of LPDDR4 Ram and 32/64 internal storage options, and finally, we do get the MicroSD card slot for memory expansion up to 200GB. The Galaxy S7 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Samsung’s TouchWiz U.I on top.

Talking about the camera, the device features a 12-megapixel autofocus rear camera is a Dual pixel technology with phase detection autofocus, OIS, dual-Tone LED flash, HDR, it can record 2K videos at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps and 720p at 120fps. And on the front, we have an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS with GLONASS, USB 2.0, NFC, MicroUSB port, unlike other flagship phones that come with Type-C USB port. The device also features a fingerprint sensor on the front home button which should be fast enough just like the Galaxy S6. A 3,000mAH Non-removable Li-Ion battery is on board with Quick Charging 3.0 on board; it also supports Wireless charging (Qi/PMA).
