Hugo Barra during the Redmi Note 3 launch has promised that the company will launch the most awaited flagship; the Mi 5 in India in less than a month and today Xiaomi has finally started sending out media invites for the launch of the device. The company has scheduled an event for March 31st where it will be launching the device, although we are still not clear which variant will Xiaomi launch as the Mi 5 comes in three different models. The Xiaomi Mi 5 was announced in China and at MWC 2016 event in February and later it went on for sale in China so India will be the second Market where Xiaomi is launching the Mi 5.
Xiaomi Mi 5 Specifications:
The Xiaomi Mi 5 sports a 5.15-inches Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display with a curved glass design, and It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Quad-Core 64-bit processor with Adreno 530 GPU. The base model packs in 3GB LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB (UFS 2.0) internal storage while the high-end model packs a 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB (UFS 2.0) internal storage. The Xiaomi Mi 5 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Xiaomi’s MiUi 7.0 on top.
In the camera department, the Xiaomi Mi 5 features a 16-megapixel rear Sony IMX298 camera sensor with dual-tone LED flash, Phase Detection Auto Focus, 4-axis Optical Image Stabilization, and it can record 4K videos. On the front, we have a 4-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. The device features a Fingerprint scanner for better security and an Infrared sensor to control electronic devices. Connectivity features include 4G LTE with VoLTE, Dual SIM, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port for fast data transfers. A 3,000mAh non-removable battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support. We should know the pricing and the variants that will be available in India at the time of the launch.
